Shared Services: Will They Change the Way We Do Things?
It is right that money could be saved by South Hams and West Devon working together, but at no cost to the residents of Tavistock should this result in a poor level of service.
Both Councils have different needs both in the structure of their areas and the people that they serve. With the possible loss of skilled people, particularly within West Devon, we must seek assurances that we will not see a an imbalance of services in Tavistock through a lack of understanding of its culture, history and needs.

The Government has set aside nationally £1Bn to reward local authorities for the building of new homes and bringing empty properties back into use.
A sum equal to the national average Council tax band will be paid on each additional home bult for a six year period with an additional enhancement for affordable homes.
